Choosing the correct size FemmyCycle is critical to successful use. If you are new to menstrual cups or are just new to FemmyCycle, you will notice that FemmyCycle comes in three sizes:
- Regular
- Low Cervix
- Petite (formerly “Teen”)
Choosing the correct size FemmyCycle is important for both comfort and effective use. In order to determine your size, you’ll need to measure the depth of your vaginal canal by locating your cervix. This will require getting quite up close and personal with your vagina. Yes…this means you will have to physically touch your vagina and cervix to determine which size will work best for you!
Your cervix is the lowest part of the uterus (womb) and is located at the top of the vagina. Shaped like a small doughnut, it has an opening in the center which allows for three main things:
- Sperm entry into the uterus
- Passage of a baby from the uterus into the birth canal (vagina)
- Release of menstrual blood and cervical mucous
You will need to measure the distance from the vaginal opening to your cervix.
Measuring the distance between your vaginal opening and cervix is best done during your period. This is because your cervix moves down into the vaginal canal during menstruation.
How to Locate Your Cervix
Stand with one foot on the toilet seat and insert your index finger into your vagina. Alternatively, you can squat instead. With the inserted finger, try to feel for your cervix. It should feel like a slightly firm ball at the top of the vagina. It will feel firm like the tip of your nose and the rest of your vagina will feel like the inside of your cheek. If you cannot feel your cervix, don’t panic! You may have a higher than average cervix.
